Thrive Not Just Survive 2021

Everyone was happy to say goodbye to 2020!  This past year, we adjusted to an incredible amount of change in our professional and personal lives.  As we begin the new year, being pro-active with your career has never been more important than it is right now as we kick-off 2021.

Many people suspended job searches when the pandemic hit.  It was prudent to stay put and be thankful for having a job versus seeking a new opportunity.  If you were in that position, now is the time to decide what your strategy will be for the year ahead.  Is it time to prepare during the first six months of 2021 for a transition in the second half of the year? Or do you need to continue where you are and develop a plan to advance within your organization? Or is it time to explore a new career path with better opportunities?

Whichever course you take, make 2021 a year that your career thrives.  While we have been in the midst of a global and national challenge, there are jobs available and more will appear as we get further into the new year.  If you are not happy about where you are professionally, then do not opt to just survive another year. As a professional career coach with decades of experience in senior leadership, I can help you prepare for the next phase of your career.

Whether or not you are ready for a change, I hope you continue the valuable strategies we all learned during the past ten months:

  • Stick to a schedule.  Don’t linger over your laptop and continue to work just because it now sits on your kitchen table.

  • Balance family needs.  Adjust your schedule as best you can to be there for your children, parents, partner, roommate or friends.

  • Take care of yourself and stay connected.  Take regular walks or runs.    Cook healthy, new recipes.  Zoom with family and friends.  Read more.  And be kind to yourself.

Stay healthy, be safe and if we continue to work together, we will have better days ahead!
